At the end of 2006, after laying down his Pastoral position at Harvest Christian Church in Walmer-Port Elizabeth and committed to early retirement from the corporate world in  March 2007, the Lord spoke "audibly" to Geert and said: "Start your Church".

Well, the actualization came in January 2007, after the leadership of Harvest gave their ‘blessing", that the newly formed church known as: "Cedar Branch Church" started its first service in the Community hall along Walker Drive in Sherwood-PE.

The name is derived from the Scriptures in Ezekiel 17: 22-23 where the Lord says:

"I will take one of the highest branches of the Cedar tree and set it out" "It will bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a majestic Cedar. Under it will dwell birds of every sort: in the shadow of its branches they will dwell".

God just added gifted people to the start up team and today we are still blessed with Les Koch as our anointed worship leader and his bubbly wife Sally, both graduates from Bible school, as well as Gordon Pope as the Prophet in our midst, supported by his wife Kay, and then Errol Barnard, with his spirit of Wisdom and ability to see the "lighter side of life", who often has us crying with laughter, and his wife Marilyn who is ready in and out of season with a word of encouragement and counsel. Geert Jansingh has remained the leader, and is very ably supported and guided by his wife Barbie, who is a "pillar" in the worship team and also leads the children's church and ladies ministries "par excellance."

These make up the current Eldership team.

Over the years God has added His "Generals"; people with strategic gifting to enhance the body, to make God "famous" amongst His people, ably imparting Godly principles into the church so as to honour God with everything we do, and to bring into reality the major "vision" He has given this church.

Christians and non Christians from all walks of life have come through the doors of the building into the love of His people and of His presence.

There has been and continues to be a major breakthrough in restoration, of everyone that comes, from the hurts inflicted by the world and by religious institutions.

"Where the presence of the Lord is, there is healing, and there is freedom" Because the Word says" "The truth shall set you free!"

Although we continue to meet at the hall just off vd Stel street past the Primary School in Kabega Park, the hall is becoming too small, and the needs for the children's, the youth, the ladies and the men's ministries as well as the Sunday services require us to obtain the land that God has set aside for us to build the new "Cedar Branch Lifestyle Centre", which will serve as a large community care centre with auditorium, clinic, education wing, business and retail, offices, youth centre, science centre, playschool, chapel, and much much more.

The purpose is simple: "To uplift the community with lifeskill impartation, education for all, healthcare, spiritual fulfilment and a safe haven for life's activities including business and pleasure".

The ultimate goal is even simpler: "To make God famous"!
